Open Hearts, Open Minds

In July 2023, UpCountry Brewing planned a drag show. No big deal, or so we thought. But when we received a threat saying the show's attendees should consider themselves "target practice", we postponed the event, and instead started this fundraiser.

John is extremely proud that his wife has for years told their children (now grown) that the Cochran family motto is OPEN HEARTS, OPEN MINDS. It was the perfect slogan to use for this collection of items intended to raise funds for worthwhile LGBTQIA causes.

The initial fundraiser was aimed at our local community of Brevard, NC with all donations going to the Transylvania County Rainbow Alliance. Almost immediately after the postponed drag show, we raised over $4,000! With such success, we decided to not only continue this fundraiser year round but also expand it to other communities as well. 

Purchase any of the Brevard, NC items and 10% of the total purchase price will be donated to the Transylvania County Rainbow Alliance, who will spread the funds out to various other charities in the community  

By purchasing any the Asheville, NC items, 10% of the total purchase price will be donated to Tranzmission, whose goal is education, advocacy and support for non binary and transgender people in Western NC.
